-- Zalman CNPS2005
-- Page: 1 2 3 4 5

The Zalman CNPS2005 comes packed in a fairly large box, larger than what I'm use to seeing for a heatsink. In it you will find the Aluminum flower, a tube of silicon, the Fan mounted on a bracket, 2 packages with 3 screws in it, the noiseless connecter, and instructions.

The base of the heatsink is finally machined polished and very smooth. You can hardly see the lines from where the two blocks are sandwiching the thin pieces of aluminum that make up the flower.

Sorry this pic was taken after I was done testing the unit out. And yes, that is my core info imprinted on the bottom of the cooler, is this normal?

Installation of the CNPS2005 was fairly simple and very straightforward. You install the CNPS2005 like any other heatsink. The clip was very easy to put on and take off, and was still very solid, and didn't shift back and worth when I tried to wiggle it. Then you unscrew the first three slots of your agp/pci and place the cooler on top, and screw it in with the supplied screws.

The only thing that I didn't like about the flower was the mounting of the fan bracket. If you had any kind of a window in your computer it wouldn't look that great to show off this big ass fan right over the CPU. Another feature that would be nice to see is that the fan bracket be made adjustable, that way it could support more motherboards and cases. Because with our case/motherboard setup the only way we could get the fan bracket to be directly over the cpu was to only screw in one bolt.

While testing we were told by Zalman not to try and use the noiseless connecter on our athlon because temperatures would get to high.
