We will only be testing this unit with other
copper heatsinks. They will also be using the same Delta fan
throughout the testing to ensure a fairness due to fan speed and
whatnot. Although the fan that came with the Vantec is also a
Delta fan, we replaced it with ours just so the testing can be fair
with all our units.
Note: We have since changed our temperature
measuring from using the onboard sensor on the motherboard, to using
the CompuNurse,
an external temperature probe. This probe is situated
right next to the CPU slug, so it provides the most precise
temperature reading as possible.
Our trusty old test rig is as follows:

The test will consist of an idle
temperature check and a full load temperature check. The full
load will be accomplished by using the RC5
program and running 3DMark
2001 for 30 minutes.

Hey, now there's something. We finally have a
cooler close to the temperature of what the SK-6 can do. All
things being equal, this cooler is probably a better deal coming in
at only about $30 USD. I would think this unit can take over
the top spot if the copper coils were larger. The unit is not
at all large, it'll fit on any motherboard from what I gather.
The aluminum covering helps direct the air flow, kind of like how
the Alpha heatsinks did it way back.

for hooking us up with a test unit. They've got some great
stuff over there besides cpu coolers. So give them a visit, it can't
hurt.
