-- Volcano 9 CoolMod
-- Page: 1 2 3

The Volcano 9 CoolMod is not much different than the regular Volcano 9.  The only difference is the replacement of the metal TT fan grill with a TT 4 LED clear grill.

There is one LED on one side of the grill.  Two of them directly across from each other are powered by the HD LED (Red) leads from the motherboard, while the other two are powered on by the Power LED (Blue).

Unlabeled HD and Power LED connects

Another difference is the change from a dial potentiometer t to a knob rheostat version.  The previous round circle version was a bit hard to turn compared to this knob style.  All other features and specs are identical, including the same heatsink.

Here is the unit in action:

One thing I noticed is that the temperature probe was wrapped in plastic, a little too much of it.  So with a scissor, some portions of it had to be removed to get a more accurate reading.

The Volcano 9 CoolMod I received had a slight problem.  It seemed the actual fan within the fan casing was off center causing it to rub severely against the edge.  This is probably a fluke thing as my other Smart & Silent fans did not have this problem.
