With all the numerous heatsinks and coolers that
come through our hands, the ThermoEngine from Thermosonic
is probably one of the most unique looking ones. Aside from
the particular name ThermoEngine, Thermosonic has actually went
ahead and acquired patent pending for their particular design in
about 10 countries, so the engineers over at Thermosonic must be
doing something right.
From their site, they currently have a couple of CPU
coolers available. We will be taking a look and testing out
the V60-4225, the AMD Athlon 1.5GHz and Intel Pentium III 1.13GHz
CPU Socket Cooler. The V60-4225 is the exact same heatsink as
the V60-4210, except that the 4225 includes a faster fan.
We would also like to thank Crazy
PC for providing us with this sample to play with. A nice
place to pick up some coolers, give Nick and them a visit : )

Here are some key features of this
worker:
-
Flexible fan replacement
-
Performance and thermal resistance: 0.56 deg C/W
at 12V
-
Fan: 60 x 60 x 10mm; ball bearing; safety
approvals: CE and UL
-
Clip-to-socket attach force: 19 +/- 3 lbs
Off the bat, that is my carpet. Yes, i
thought the texture looked nice as a background. Anyway,
Although the box is labeled as a 4210, it is indeed a newer version
modeled v60-4225. Difference between the two being the rated
speed of the fan. I noticed some great care and detail put
into the packaging of this cooler. There are some basic specs
on the box, like the weight, thermal material, etc. of the cooler on
the side of box. Perfect for someone who may need that
information for other specific purposes.

Besides having a detailed box, the
cooler was also packaged with some good styrofoam. A nice
touch to cushion any rough jolts this heatsink may receive while
being shipped. I would say any slight bend in the heatsink
fins itself would probably alter the channeling of air some how.
Then again, I am probably thinking too much.

The contents of the box include the
cooler itself and a folded sheet of instructions. One of the
few manufacturers who actually include some kind of information with
their product. The other company that comes to mind is Alpha,
an old timer in the cooling business. The instructions detail
installation and other precautions that should be noted while using
the ThermoEngine.
