The ML-1430 is nearly
identical in every way to its predecessor, the 1210. The build and
weight is the same, even the cartridge used can be interchanged. One
major difference is the page per minute that this new unit can output.
The 1210 boasted a 12 page per minute speed, the 1430 has increased
that to 15 PPM.
After testing a few times printing parts of a Red Hat
manual in PDF format, the average print time per minute hovered around
14 to 15 PPM.
Here is a shot of a test print that we made initially:

Closer inspection showed very little
smudging, with crisp edges on text prints. I noticed on pages
with shades of gray, the 1430 prints it a bit darker than preferred.
Overall, the ML-1430 is an awesome deal
for a quiet and fast laser printer. At 15 PPM, it's one of the
fastest in its price class. The package also includes a toner
cartridge valued at $60.
If you are planning on purchasing an ink
jet printer, you may want to take a look at this model. The
quality of laser prints will make you not want to go back to ink jet
