We recently got a
package from the fine folks at OCZ and inside were a couple of
socket A coolers. These folks have made a name for themselves
for making quality coolings accessories at very affordable prices.
This is our first look at one of their products, we will see if they
live up to their name.
Our first look into
OCZ's product line, is their Socket A cooler, the Monster 3.
Coming in at a hefty 63mm X 75 mm of extruded aluminum, some
motherboards may have one too many capacitators to accommodate this
cooler. The heatsink is partnered with a Dynaeon fan pumping
out 36CFMs. The fan utilizes a 4-pin molex connector, which is
probably due to the fact that the fan draws a lot of power. Maybe a
little too much for some motherboards.

The heatsink is made up of fins instead
of rods. It seems some heatsinks do a better job in the rod
formation, but with the size of this cooler, the fins may be
perfectly fine.
There are about 20 fins located on the
heatsink itself, rather large in size as compared to some other
model heatsinks we run across.
