-- Up Close and Installation
-- Page: 1 2 3 4

Now that you have seen what makes up the EL Custom Shop kit, lets take a look at the construction, color, and installation methods of this LightStrip. When you first pickup the LightStrip, you will notice that the color is very solid and consistent and there is a paper backing.  What EL Custom Shop does is apply a 3M adhesive backing, all you have to do is pull off the paper backing and it will stick pretty much anywhere.  This is a great feature since this prevents you from needing super glue which is messy or some other form of adhesive.

Here is a close up of the Light Strip un-powered.  It is surprisingly blue compared to their competitors whose blue is closer to a white and turns blue when powered.  Light Strip technology uses a "white phosphorus that lights up blue/green @ 400hz and a light blue @2000hz". The reason why EL Custom Shop's Light Strips is different in color, both on and off is that it uses a blue overlay.  The flexibility of using an overlay is that you can provide any color needed for a project.  EL Custom Shop currently provides Light Strip in 8 colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, and White.

Now comes the fun part, installing the Light Strip which in this instance is in a case fan.  Lately, lighting case fans has gained a lot of attention, especially with LED's, but one of the better ways to light a fan is to use Light Strip.  Here I'm installing Light Tape in a Sunon 92mm Fan, I have wrapped the inside of the fan and will cut it to length, peel the backing, and will be ready to turn it on.
