The Napa CD player has one of the most feature rich
packages we have come across to date. Not only does it play
compact discs, it also plays mp3s burned onto CDRs or CDRWs.
Added to that, it also plays VCDs! A perfect worker for the person
who needs a multimedia center, just hook it up to your existing TV
set or stereo and you have enough to get started.

The accessories in the box are quite amazing, it
includes the Napa player itself, a 3.6v lithium battery, stereo
earphones, AC/DC Adapter, Remote Control, AV Cables(!) and the
User's manual. The most incredible thing in the box is that it
includes a 32 button remote control and audio and video cables!

Using
the remote is rather easy, as long as your seven meters away and
within 60 degrees of the front of the player, it should be able to
pick up the signals.
Connecting up the player is a snap,
there are jacks for the audio and the video plugs right next to each
other. We first tested the unit with a CDRW of mp3s.
Playback was not bad, bass on the unit pounded enough through the
earphones. The LCD screen provides information on what track
is being played, the different modes (intro, random, all repeat) and
whether if it is in the play, stop or pause mode. All in all,
the LCD screen could have been bigger, many of the letters are
tightly packed together it is hard to see them. Another
problem I came across while testing, was that there is no
documentation of any of the LCD features in the manual! For a
product full of options, one would expect to see some mentioning of
it in the written documentation.
While playing the mp3s on the player, I
ran around the house to test the ability of the player to shock.
There is no skip protection at all! The player skipped the CD
as soon as I move my arms rapidly. Hopefully they can add that
of things to do for their next version of the player.
