-- Y.S. Tech TMD Fan
-- Price: ~ $11.99 USD

Now that you have seen this new technology and how it works, let's see how it compares to other 60mm and 80mm fans. Officially the fan is 74mm x 74mm x 15mm, but the fan is ~71mm in diameter at the corners and ~74mm at the center and the hub sticks up ~1mm above the 15mm. Additionally, the diameter of the fan blades is ~63mm. In the tables below, I wanted to demonstrate the performance characteristics of the TMD fan vs. other common 60mm fans and a few 80mm fans in the 35cfm range.

Y.S. TECH TMD ~63mm ~12mm ~25mm 58mm
80mm fans ~72.5 ~32.5mm ~20mm 73mm
60mm fans ~54mm ~30mm ~12mm 50mm

Note: I measured 4 80mm fans: 2 generics, a Sunon, and a Panaflo, and I measured Y.S. TECH and Delta 60mm fans.

In conclusion, I get excited about new technologies and Y.S. TECH has definitely brought us something completely new. With this version of the TMD comes a higher CFM fan which makes this fan a viable replacement / upgrade for the louder 60mm fans found on cpu heat sinks. I hope that Y.S. TECH continues to bring improvements and new models of the TMD. I can't wait untill they bring out 80mm and 92mm replacements to see if they can bring a quieter and higher cfm fan than the Panaflo's and Sunon's of the world.

I would like to thank Larry from AZZO Computers for providing the Y.S. TECH TMD fan used in this review. For those not familiar with AZZO, they are based in Tennessee and offer a full selection of computer and modding products. Currently, they are having a summer sale on CCFL's, both single and dual CCFL kits, so go take a look.

  Pros:
  • Motor moved from the center to the 4 corners
  • Possible upgrade from loud 60mm fans
  • 3 pin adapter for use with motherboard rpm monitoring
  • TMD fan is only 15mm thick as opposed to the typical thickness of 25.4mm
  • 12 inch power cable

  Cons:

  • Higher dB/a than 80mm with 60mm to 80mm adapter
  • TMD currently only comes in 74mm size, not a standard computer fan size
