The dual CCFL comes with a lot of
pre-installed components. Most notably the black split loom, which
keeps all the wires nice and neat. Also, you can see that AZZO took
the extra step and covered the 3 inch long inverter with a thick
rubber heat shrink to protect from accidental shocks, which is
easily removed in case you want to change the CCFL's that are
You will see the split loom is secured with yellow fluorescent wire
ties. The wire ties do not come with either kit and in the near
future will be for sale on the AZZO site. In case you haven't worked
with split loom (sometimes known as wire loom), it will stay closed
and on the wires without by itself. The smaller split loom is
approximately 1cm in diameter and the larger split loom around the
power connectors is just under 2cm in diameter.
The length of the wire in the split loom is:
10 inches from inverter to CCFL, 20 inches from inverter to push
button switch, and 11 inches from the push button to the Molex
connector. For convenience, AZZO has included a y-splitter so that
you don't lose a power connector when you plug in the CCFL.
Here is how the ends of the CCFL are dealt with. AZZO uses an
acrylic tube with an outside diameter of 3/8th's of an inch with a
gray rubber plug at each end that allows the end wires from the CCFL
to exit the sealed tube. You can also see the Kurly Loks here. They
have an adhesive bottom, which makes them very handy for mounting
the CCFL's. Here is a closer look at the rubber ends.
When you order a CCFL from AZZO they let you have choice of push
button styles. The dual CCFL kit that I'm reviewing comes with the
square switch with black push button, which is $1.25 option over the
round switch with yellow button.
Let's see what these CCFL's can do. First off let's take a look at
the UV CCFL's alone.
The next picture is with the UV's and the UV reactive wire ties that
AZZO will be selling soon.
