Before we go into the results, we were actually a little skeptical on to what exactly a piece of plastic channeling air can do. Can it really help lower temperatures by just working on the theory of positioning and channeling air?
We tested our rig by determining what the prior temperature inside the case and the motherboard. Our room temperature was kept at a constant 27C to keep everything on an even level. Case, motherboard and video temperatures were recorded. Certain portions of the temperature recording was obtained using the CompuNurse Temperature Unit.
Here are the results that we came back with, this product is truly something. Please keep in mind, we only had 3 fans on, the front (120mm) and the back (2 X 80mm). Each test was run for about 30 mins to stabilize the temperature. No programs were run, system was at idle in Windows 2000 Professional.
Since we were using a full tower, the regular 2CoolPC unit's fan may not have provided enough power to get the maximum air flow. Also note, with the Plus and Turbo units, the temperatures were very close for the case and motherboard. What is surprising is the incredible response that the the video card had to this unit. The channeled air helped lower the temperatures on the video quite nicely.
Overall, the units simple idea and results are very good. With just 2 fans running, the 2CoolPC unit was still able to provide decent cooling abilities. Please make sure these units will fit in your case before you plan on purchasing it.
Thanks to Paul from 2CoolPC for taking the time out to send us these units. You guys can thank him also for providing some giveaway samples of the 2Cool PC Plus unit! You can find out more about that here!
