As far as portable storage goes, this is probably the easiest to set up and use. The installation is a snap, especially if you are using Windows 2000 or XP. The drivers are already installed so it's just a matter of plugging it in and using it. For the Mac users, theres a driver disk you need to install, but that shouldn't be 'too' hard.
The only downside is that you need Firewire or USB2.0 to really maximize the usage of this unit. I tried using it on my USB 1.1 ports on our Epox board and it would not finish any benchmarks we threw at it. It did however get recognized by the system. We can look forward to more motherboard manufacturers that are producing Firewire that is built into the board, instead of going the PCI card route. If you're out of luck in both the Firewire or USB department, you can purchase add on cards, which Evergreen just so happens to carry. They aren't too expensive actually, so you can get this Hot Drive up and running in no time.
Thanks to Evergreen for sending us this test unit, this might be one of their more economical and useful products to date!
