parallel LCD’s but only a few that have been released to the

an interface for a car mp3 player using parallel LCD’s.

is known as a “serial backpack.”
Basically it allows you to use your parallel LCD with a
serial adapter, thus allowing you to run all the current software
that supports serial LCD’s for a fraction of the cost.
