Before we install this unit, here's a break down of the system it will be going into:

  • P4 1.8a @ 2.5Ghz
  • Samsung 512MB DDR
  • Abit GF4 Siluro Ti4200 64MB w/ Dual outputs
  • Windows XP Professional
  • Detonator 30.82 drivers using nView

The stand has a large foot print of about 10 X 10 inches.  The bottom of the base has a circular stand that allows for 360 degree turns.  The power and cables are situated in the bottom middle on the backbone of the unit.  As you can see above, both analog and digital cables are not removable.  So when this unit is in use the other cable will be dangling somewhere.  The power connector sits right next to the analog (left) and digital (right) cables pictured above.

The rear of the unit has the Samsung logo stamped on the top.  With this unit installed we will probably never see that logo again.

The top of the backbone of the unit has a handle that lets you raise the monitor up and down.  There's roughly about 2 inches in height that it can be raised.  The last picture shows the pivoting possibilities of the unit.

The 171P is about 6 inches in depth, taking up less room than a conventional 14" CRT monitor.  The 170 degree angle helps adjustment for maximum space of viewing.
