Our test rig which will be going in as usual, consists of an Epox 8K7A Mobo, 1.4Ghz AMD Tbird, EVGA GF2MX 32MB, Yamaha PCI Sound and a SMC NIC.

Installation is pretty easy with the removable mobo tray.  Disregard the blue plastic that's still on the I/O panel, I forgot to remove it somehow.

Here's another shot of the reset button and LED along with the USB port on the front of the case.

Disregard the heel of my foot in this shot.  Here's the finished product with the faithful green CCFL in place:

The blue is from the floppy drive in case you are wondering.  I had some issues with the LEDs that were provided, I tried every position possible, but couldn't bring up the power/HDD LEDs.  I probably missed a pin somehow, not really a big issue.  That wasn't my main concern at the moment.

I like how the green reflects off the yellow IDE/Floppy cables.  Looks even better when you can see through the case.

I ran everything within the case without any fans.  I thought since the case didn't come with fans, I wouldn't put one in.  You'll get my test temperature so adding a fan or two will only be beneficial one way or another.  After a good 30 minute run through, CPU temps at stock speed went to about 45C.  Room temperature kept to 27C with the use of an air conditioner.  At full load, temperatures would be around 48-49C using a GW SAK38 cooler.  All temperatures measured with a Compunurse and a Radio Shack digital thermometer.

The case itself was only a bit warm to the touch, nothing to worry about.  The unit weighs about 14lbs empty, not too heavy to carry around although I wouldn't recommend it.

I do recommend this case, as it has all you need to get yourself up and running sporting an all acrylic design.  Thumbscrews are provided to give the simplest means to get to your hardware.  With just a few minor flaws here and there, this case will only get better as time goes on.

As mentioned earlier, let's take a look at some accessories that came with this sample.

C3 also produces 60-80mm adapters, fan grills and blowhole covers.  Almost everything needed has been thought of.

Thanks  to Neal and Bill over at C3 for sending us this sample.  I have been talking to Bill since he decided to open up shop, this unit has been in the works for a while now. I'm looking forward to even more acrylic products from them in the future.

Pros:

  • Strong construction
  • Thumbscrews throughout the case
  • Pre-cut blowholes
  • USB1/2 located in the front
  • Removable motherboard tray
  • Removable drive cage
  • Slim case CDROM holder

  • Cons:

  • Drive does not fit flush within the drive cage
  • No option for side intake hole
