With all of the storage cases I have looked at in the past, this is really the first non-NAS system that holds two drives. By putting in the small push pin key into the left side of the case, the door pops open and slides out.

Using two different drives, I installed a WD 500GB drive and a Seagate 750GB drive.

Installation of drives is a breeze. Just slide the drive in and it snaps shut.

The below picture shows the ICY BOX next to a Netgear toaster (Windows only NAS device that uses 2 PATA drives). On a desktop I would rather have the ICY BOX over the Netgear mainly because of the looks and size of the ICY BOX. Plus the ICY BOX has a fan to keep the drives cool, where as the Netgear does not.

The backup software that comes with the Icy Box is PCClone 1.84.11. This version will NOT install on Windows Vista.

The silver button on the front of the case works with the backup software and below is the message you get when you push it. It does give you the option to back out if you pressed it by accident.

Running through a system backup won’t take long on this system.

Since I did the backup with a user logged in, all of the files that are locked or in use are not backed up as expected.
