Following in the ICY BOX line, Tagan has come out with another external enclosure in the same family of products. The original ICY BOX I looked at earlier this year was a nice product that supported a single 2.5" SATA drive. The ICY BOX IB-3220 I have today takes a single USB cable and attaches two 3.5" SATA drives to your computer via the USB port. Double the pleasure, double the fun.
Features:
- Aluminum Case, supports JBOD* Function
- EasySwap-mechanism
- HDD Capacity unlimited
- Supports: PC, Mac and Linux
- "One Touch Backup" - system incl. software (Windows only)
- Transfer Rates: USB 2.0 up to 480Mbit/s
- External AC power adapter: (100 ~ 240 V)
- Including external data cable
- cooling fan (Adjustable: High, low, off)
* JBOD - "Just a bunch of discs”: PC detects two HDDs by one USB cable.
The box has some nice cover art showing the device.

The back of the box has information about the IB-3220 in 6 different languages; English is on the side of the box.

JBOD is not RAID and should not be considered anything but an easy way make two drives appear as one. Now let’s start looking at what is inside of the box. You get the power adapter, USB data cable and two keys to open the drive bays.

The wall plug I received was a European plug, but since they use a standard power adapter I was able to take the plug from my old digital camera battery charger to get the device powered up. They were willing to send me a replacement plug if I didn't have one.

The ICY BOX front panels have the plastic protective film over it when you first get it out of the box.

The rear of the enclosure has the USB plug, power switch, plug for the power, fan and switch for fan, and lock slot. Mine came with the default of having the cooling fan off.

The feet are rubber so it won’t get pushed off the table accidentally.
