In terms of construction, the Hybrid is both very similar and dissimilar to the RipperXL.

Like the RipperXL, the Hybrid has a very low profile and is backed by similar foam. The surface however, is very different. It has the flexibility and weaved texture of cloth, but it has the durability and feel of plastic. You can roll it up like a newspaper, and yet it resists liquid and damage like a plastic mouse pad.

The Hybrid also has a rather unique shape. At 10" by 16" it has a considerably higher ratio of width to height than most mouse pads. It’s also considerably larger than most mouse pads, although it is not as large as the RipperXL.

As you can see, the Hybrid is considerably shorter, but nearly as wide. I never noticed before I started paying attention, but with the RipperXL I was using most of the left and right space of the pad, but very little of the up and down space. The Hybrid gives me nearly as much breathing room but takes up considerably less space on my desk.

To give you an idea of the size, I will refer to my trusty mac and cheese measuring device.
