For testing I purchased a new Sony DW-D22A DVD burner.

One thing I have always liked about Sony drives is how short they are. Take notice of this, it will be important later.

To mount the drive, you must first attach the included rails. They are rather easy to attach. Simply line up the holes and attach using the screws provided.

After that, all you must do is hook up the standard molex connector, IDE cable, and audio jack. The drive then drops into the enclosure and is secured with two screws.

Everything should just tuck into the gap. Remember how I said most Sony drives are short? Notice how little space there is between the board and the rear of the drive. It's not uncommon to see drives an inch or two longer than this one. If a drive is longer than 7", then it will not fit inside this case. Popular drives like the NEC ND-3520A and Samsung TS-H552B are probably not going to fit.

Another complaint I have is with the molex connector. For some reason, Vantec decided to use a right angle connector rather than a standard molex connection. While it works fine, it would be less awkward if a standard connection was used.
