After plugging in all cables and powering on, you should be greeted with a light hum as it warms up. The LCD on the front is a great addition as it lets you adjust settings and view status. I noticed that this model seems to have fixed the power spiking issue seen in the older ML series printers.

The next step is to install the software included on the cdrom. I already had a ML-1750 printer drivers installed, and strangely enough, it picked up the SCX4100 without a problem. I updated the drivers anyway and installed the Smarthru software.

The software allows you to scan, copy, print and organize your images.
You can change settings through the printer preferences. Options include portrait or landscape, DPI and toner save options.
