One thing I really like about Samsung products is the instructions. They usually include a large poster type quick start guide to get you up and running. This unit does come with one and it takes roughly about 5 minutes after unpacking the MFP to get it running.

The first thing to do is to pop open the front cover to install the ink cartridge. Before inserting, make sure you shake the cartridge to prep it.

Next step is to put some paper in. When I look for a printer, I look for one that does sheet feeding through a tray. These tend to not jam as often as the ones that feed and print on the opposite side through a top feeder.

If you plan to feed single sheets, there is a slot on the front right above the tray.

The SCX4100 supports USB1 only. The packaging does not come with a USB cable, so make sure you pick an A->B cable beforehand. The printer also supports a parallel connection if you do not have USB available. The power is fed through a common 3-prong power cord.
