Our initial testing will be done at stock 200Mhz (DDR400) with our test rig:

  • Intel P4 2.4C
  • Abit IC7 Motherboard
  • MSI FX 5900Ultra 256MB
  • Maxtor 80GB 8MB 7200RPM Hard drive
  • Windows XP Professional SP1

We will be comparing test results against our Kingston CL2 1GB and Corsair CL2 1GB samples. Test will consists of Sisoft Sandra 04, PiFast and PCMark2002.

The ram was set to 2.8V in the BIOS. Our IC7 motherboard is a bit quirky, it doesn't always set SPD timings correctly. Without manually setting it at 2-2-2-5, the board will set it to 2.5-2-2-5. So for all IC7 users out there, set your timings manually!

Our Sisoft Sandra 04 scores:

Sisoft Sandra 04 Buffered

( 200 / DDR400)

Corsair XL3200 Pro 1GB int: 4842 Float: 4811 (MB/s)
Kingston HyperX PC3200 1GB int: 4856 Float: 4831 (MB/s)
 Mushkin LIIV2 PC3200 1GB int: 4886 Float: 4867 (MB/s)

Higher the better

Ideally, we want to get as close to 6.4GB/s, but that's not likely going to happen too often at all. Very nice scores at stock speeds nonetheless.

PiFast calculator (Digits: 10000000, Method: Chudnovsky, Size of FFT: 1024):

PiFast

( 200 / DDR400)

Corsair XL3200 Pro 1GB 52.81 secs
Kingston HyperX PC3200 1GB 52.88 secs
 Mushkin LIIV2 PC3200 1GB 52.68 secs

Lower the better

PCMark 2002 memory:

PCMark 2002

( 200 / DDR400)

Corsair XL3200 Pro 1GB 8434
Kingston HyperX PC3200 1GB 8437
 Mushkin LIIV2 PC3200 1GB 8440

Higher is better
