For our testing purposes, we use our trusty test rig as usual.  It consists of a 1.4Ghz AMD Thunderbird.  It runs on our IWill KK266, Crucial PC133 CL2 Ram, 128MB and evga GF2 MX 32mb Video Card.  The hard drive used is the IBM DJNA 22.0GB unit (old but trusty).

These figures were obtained using the temperature probe from Radio Shack and our CompuNurse temperature probe.  CPU full load is just running RC5 for about 45 minutes, a few 3dMark 2001 benches and some rounds of Counter Strike.

Please note, we stuck in two similar speed (29CFM) fans in the case as intake and exhaust to mimic the stock configuration as best we can.

The case is not all that bad.  I thought the funny looking front bezel would be an indication of some lack luster temperatures.  That doesn't seem to be the case (no pun intended).  One thing to mention is that the case is very light, perfect to carry around.  It also sports a vertical bar to help stabilize your cards and the case.  The screwless drive rails are also a great idea, but that green sure puts a damper on things.  Now here are the bad points...

I didn't like the front panel that swings out, that gets in the way at times.  Also, the panel does not have a spring mechanism to swing the panel back in place.  Also, the case badge area is hidden behind the panel!

Also, for the lazy folks with huge hands and arms, there is no removable motherboard tray.  That doesn't affect me too much, but some people will not buy a case without it.  So keep that in mind if you are jumping in for the purchase.

Thanks to Chung over at GlobalWin for sending us this sample to test out.  Here's another addition to our aluminum case review database

  • Light Weight
  • Stabilizing bar
  • 300W PSU Included
  • 2 Fans included
  • Great drive locking mechanism

  • Cons:

  • Front panel is inconvenient and doesn't close by itself
  • No removable mobo tray
  • Not entirely screwless
  • Accessory bag could have included more thumbscrews and green stabilizing standoffs
