We all know GlobalWin from their fine line of high performance coolers.  My first large heatsink, the FDP32, was from them and I still have it to this day.  So what does a successful heatsink company do next?  Branch out to new things of course.

They have recently been promoting their new aluminum cases to the masses.  We had a chance to pick one of these up for a quick review.  We already have quite a few alum cases in our review section, so a nice comparison should be in order here.

On a side note, anyone ever watch Batman the animated series?  There was this episode where this mega computer thing created clones of people.  Everything went haywire and that computer went on an evil streak...anyway...this case's front bezel reminds me of it for some reason...back to the review.

Here are some quick specs on the case from GW:

The case comes with a front cover that swings open.  Kind of reminds me of those old Compaqs, but a lot classier.  There are two (2) 5.25" bays that can be accessed without swinging open that front cover.  One strange thing is, the case badge area is hidden!  You can't see it without open the front cover, not exactly sure why that was done.

The power button and reset button are huge.  You can turn on this case with your large toe if you really wanted too.  I like the larger reset button too.  Have you ever used a case that had those tiny reset buttons that were indented into the case?  What is the deal with that one?  Are they trying to prevent you from resetting your box?  Sheesh, good thing GW didn't go that route.

Here's the backside of the 8870.  If you look closely (yes, this shot isn't exactly the best), you can notice that the left panel is held by two screws!  The other side is held by thumbscrews, which is strange.  I thought the case was screwless...

There's a spot for an extra 80mm case fan with pre-drilled holes.  The I/O panel has all the goodies for onboard motherboard connectors, no worries there.  The case comes with two 80mm Sunon fans.  Our sample was not shipped with any fans, but that's not an indication of what to expect.
