Then I had to decide on whether to make it out of copper or aluminum. Well, since itís not in contact with the CPU die, it's not being used for any heat transference at all. And since you can go to your local hardware store and buy a sheet of .025 thick X 6" X 24" sheet of aluminum for $2.49 and a sheet of copper .025 thick X 4" X 10" costs $5.29.
It was much more economical to get the aluminum, and the aluminum is easier on Dremel cutoff wheels than copper factors in also. Using the tip of a nail I traced around my template so that it was scribed in the metal. This works much better than using a pencil.
Then I broke out my trusty Dremel tool, nothing like the smell of hot aluminum in the morning :o) and proceeded to cut out the center square and do the two long sides of the small rectangle.
