If you are like me, you are pretty hard on your mouse. I use a Logitech Mouseman Wheel that I have had for almost a year and recently the those little slippery pads wore off, leaving me with a mouse with a lot of resistance on my 3M mouse pad. I love my mouse, having big hands, it is the perfect mouse for me so when the little pads wore off I had to find a solution. I went online to take a look at a company's product, which is a slippery tape that you put where those little pads used to be, but it was 20 dollars with shipping, which I felt was really high. So I started looking around at what I had around the house. After remembering that I had a roll of aluminum tape, used for air conditioning duct's, I thought that might be the ticket.
The tape is Nashua 324A and you can find it at any large hardware store. I tore off a small piece and started cutting little squares (about 1cm square) with a metal ruler and a break away utility knife.
Once you get your little squares cut, just take the backing off and put them where the original pads were. Just a note, if you had really thick pads, you might have to double up, which is not a problem because this tape has a very strong adhesive.
Now that the tape is on the bottom of my mouse, it glides as well or better than it did originally. Some people are going to say that this is a "Ghetto" mod, but sometimes there are some really good and very inexpensive things that you can do to make your life easier, even if it is a little mouse mod.
In case your reading this and wondering how hard and how long this mod is, it should take you less than 5 minutes and requires very basic knife skills. Just about everyone should be able to complete this mod easily and inexpensively.
