Here is another small guide on how to show off your package. No, don't get dirty thoughts on me. With all that horse power inside your case, wouldn't it be a waste to just cover it up? Won't people be amazed at your heatsink and fan combo that looks like a metal brick? What better way to show off than to cut open the sides of your case!
This guide is not meant to be the standard. I am not a master architect or carpenter, this case is not without flaws but it is the simplest and cheapest way to get that professional look. There are numerous choices in picking out the material to use for the side cover. There is PlexiGlass, Lexan and Lucite. In my little insane project, I decided to use Lucite. It is (according to the label) 100 times stronger than glass. Anyway, I think if anyone wanted to break it they will. I chose Lucite because of its price, and its durability. My case measured 16.6" X 24.4". So I went on a little trip to my local Home Depot and brought back:
- 18" X 20" Piece of Lucite - $6.95
- Xacto Knife - $3.97
- 2 X 1/4" Nuts and Bolts 5 Pack - $0.97 ea.
Now on with the tools and supplies I will be using. Here they are :
- Dremel Multi-Pro Variable (I will tell you a little story about this tool soon)
- Makita Drill w/ 1/4" bit
- Ruler
- Pencil
- FlatHead Screwdriver
