Here's the part that everyone has been waiting for.  How well do these units compare with other's we've tested.  Let's take a look and bring on the temperature chart:

Evercool CUD 725 32C 34.2C 36C 40.1C

So we have the TT Volcano 7+ as the leader in the lowest temperature department.  For the usability, it would also have to go to TT Volcano 7+ since it doubles as a Socket 478 and Socket A cooler.  For the looks, it will have to go to the AVC Tundra, with that clear fan it really looks great in a window.  The surprising contestant is the Evercool CUD 725.  With its larger size, it really makes a run for the top.  Price wise, it is a hard toss up since some of these units are not available in most retail shops.  Overall, I would have to say the TT Volcano 7+ would take the top honors in this battle, solely due to its performance, quality and pricing.

Out of most of these units tested in this round up, all of them really need to have the clip design redone.  Either they were way too stiff, or the leverage for the user was just not there.  Getting the heatsink on the socket should not be a pain in the ass.  A shift over to using thermal paste would also be the next step, the pads are just not cutting it anymore.

Thanks to all the manufacturers that sent in test samples.  We'll have another slew of units on the test block shortly for our next round up.
