The NP60D pictured above sits nicely on our Iwill KK266.  I was afraid that it might hit those capacitators with the curving design of this unit.

The larger unit is a lot wider, so you better check your motherboard if you plan on getting this unit.  The NP80D also clears the capacitators, so no worries there.  The fans use the 3 pin motherboard connector since the fan does not draw too much power.

Note: We have since changed our temperature measuring from using the onboard sensor on the motherboard, to using the CompuNurse, an external temperature probe.  This probe is situated right next to the CPU slug, so it provides the most precise temperature reading as possible.

This unit comes with a 28CFM fan, which we did not replace.  We will however, also include some 38CFM Delta temperatures.

Our trusty old test rig is as follows:

  • IWill KK266 Socket A Motherboard
  • AMD Thunderbird 800Mhz CPU
  • Crucial PC133 CL2 Ram, 128MB

The test will consist of an idle temperature check and a full load temperature check.  The full load will be accomplished by using the RC5 program and running 3DMark 2001 for 30 minutes.

Here are some results:

The Bits Power units are not bad at all for aluminum based coolers.  They do quite well when compared with some of the bigger players.  One of the surprising readings was the stock temperatures.  The NP80D beat out every cooler in the stock readings when using the Delta fan!  The overclocked temperatures are not at all shabby, keeping it real close.

When these units hit your local retailers, you may want to pick one up.  From initial pricing, they seem to be quite affordable.  Definitely recommend the unit, especially at how well the the unit cools with the quiet stock fan.

Thanks to Vincent at Bits Power for sending over these samples.  They are looking for a distributor at this moment, so if any retailers are interested give him a holler.

  • Quiet unit
  • Cools incredibly well for an aluminum unit
  • 'Skiving Technology'
  • Light weight
  • Awesome clip design

  • Cons:

    • May prove to be even better if a faster fan was included
