The name Swiftech, it rings a few bells in most overclockers as the company to beat for cooling products.  What started out as just a regular hobby in overclocking the Celeron back in '98, has evolved into a booming business for these folks.  Feeling dissatisfied with just air-cooling their chips, they decided to move over to thermo-electric cooling (peltiers).  With a good solid background in engineering, Swiftech has become a big player in the cooling industry for the past few years.

With such a high standard of quality, many people expect some great products from them.  Not only must it dissipate heat tremendously, it must also provide enough quality to last.  Swiftech has released some heatsinks like the MC462 and numerous water cooling solutions which have performed great in many reviews by other sites.

Today we will be taking a look at a new all aluminum unit from Swiftech, the MCX370-0A.  It is the successor to the MC370.  Through months of research and development, this new unit has something that is different than most heatsinks we have seen.

Here are some specs on the unit (obtained from Swiftech):

  • base: 2.5" x 2.5" x .5" high conductivity aluminum (209 W/m-K)
  • flatness: better than .001"
  • micro surface finish: 8 or better
  • 188 Helicoid pins, made of high conductivity aluminum
  • overall dimensions: 2.5x2.5x1.63" (without fan)
  • weight: 8 oz (229 g)
