With so much money and time spent into overclocking that cpu, you would want to get as much out of it as possible. Heat is the greatest threat to the lifespan of any computer hardware. Many people still use thermal pads as the interface between the heatsink and cpu while many others are switching over to some type of thermal grease. We took the much acclaimed Arctic Silver Thermal Compound and tested it to see if this grease can take some more degrees off that chip.

Arctic Silver Thermal Compound

A big thank you to the fine folks over at SubzeroPC for providing us with this syringe. If you need any type of cooling accessories, this is the place to go!

There are two versions of the grease, one for small contact areas like the ones you would find on the Coppermine chips and AMD TBirds/Durons. The other version is for large contact areas like the Celerons and P II SECC.

Features

79% to 82% pure micronized silver content.

Superior thermal conductivity. 4.65 to 5.15 W/m*K depending on the version and particular batch.

2 to 7 degrees centigrade lower CPU temperatures than any other thermal compound.

Negligible electrical conductivity.  Arctic Silver was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity. It is only electrically conductive in a thin layer under extreme compression.
(Much safer than silver greases engineered for high electrical conductivity.)
