-- LED Limiting Resistor Calculator
-- 06.06.2003
-- By: x24
-- Page: 1

This is just a simple LED limiting resistor calculator I wrote in VB. It helps you determine the resistor value you need for your mod LED projects. It can show the actual calculated resistor value and the nearest higher standard resistor value. The standard resistor values are based on the listing in the Digikey catalog.

So far, it only has the LED limiting resistor calculator, a little resistor color code utility, and a 4N25 optoisolator Multi-LED resistor calculator. I will be revising this to make the optoisolator value be user definable. Use the same V and mA values on the Limiting Resistor calculator and indicate the number of LEDs to be used in the optoisolator.

Download the LEDcalc here. I'll update this when I do some changes, bug fixes or extra features.

   X24LEDcalc 1.5.5 - 2.1 MB zip

This file has been downloaded 6102 times!

The zip file contains the Setup files for the LEDcalc. Just run Setup.exe and install it like any other program. This includes the VB runtime files used. I will prepare a pack without the runtime files to keep the pack at a small size since some of us already have the runtime files installed.

  • v1.5.5 - Removed some embarrassing programming errors, and added a weblink to the GT logo graphic (thanks to Thom Humphries)
  • v1.5.4 - Fixed Daneel's 5-band resistor function error, where values displayed from the calculation does not reflect on the resistor coloring and value.
  • v1.5.1 - Added 5-band resistor function - thanks to Daneel :)

If you experience any bugs, errors or just want to give a suggestion, complaint or why I should stop doing such things, drop me an e-mail :).
